White Van Man Home Movers, Relocators, and Swine Flu

Swine flu, are people panicking or not?

I’ve started using hand gel disinfectant & wipes in recent times, I used to do this when I first started my Edinburgh removals business back in 2005, mainly due to feeling pretty grubby on some Home Relocation jobs, even after wearing gloves when working I felt I swine-flu1needed a full hose-down afterwards… not due to working hard I may add!

Coming into physical contact with 20+ varying customers a week, when customers help load up the moving van you re bound to be at risk of some infection at some point, some customers have come back from being abroad & from some unusual places & up to god knows what, I dare not ask..

I remember some time back students from university campus whom coughed constantly during the Small move, all 5 of them, and they had just come back from the far east, a place known for infections being carried and transmitted due to the volume of people moving around, a few days later I proceeded to be violently ill & lost just over ½ st, not bad for my well padded figure… but I was laid out for a week & had to re- arrange my workload as well as losing work… seemingly due to being in a Removal van full of coughing students and handling their possessions without taking the right precautions.

My last turn was in feb this year just before the Swine flu was in Everyones minds, I was ill for almost 4 weeks with a constant irritating cough/headache and felt totally drained, plodding on with some help I had to enlist, booking fewer moving jobs in & only working when I felt I could but again it seemed to coincide with a travel-ling customer coming back from overseas, my symptoms seemed similar to Swine flu, but worse…
